Why Be A Bartender?

If you are interested in a flexible job that is seldom boring and you can bring home some really good cash every time you work, then bartending might be for you!  Bartending is the time-honored way to make great money and new friends at the same time.

The bartender reflects the atmosphere of the bar and is often times the entertainment as well.  A bartending career allows you the freedom to choose a work environment to match your personality.  A good mixologist has the freedom to travel and can work anywhere – not just nationwide but worldwide!

Bartending has been referred to as the “recession proof” career.  People enjoy the bar atmosphere when they are celebrating good times or to lift their spirits during bad times.

Because bartending offers so many options, many people are giving up traditional careers or just supplementing their income with part-time bartending.

Full time or part time, there is an almost unlimited variety of positions available.  From an elegant country club or hotel lounge or to a small neighborhood bar, there is an extensive and ever present need for a qualified mixologist.  The list goes on – hotels, motels, airports, dinner theaters, clubs, restaurants, country clubs, resorts, apartment complexes, private parties, wedding receptions, conventions, catering and many, many more.

Most bars offer flexible hours and varied shifts.  Many bars and restaurants offer full benefits and other perks.  For example, many of the larger motels and airlines offer discounts on lodging, meals, airfare, etc.

Bartending salaries vary by region and establishment, but a professional mixologist in today’s economy can expect to earn a salary that is above that of most entry level college grads.  Most of those entry-level positions with large corporations require more working hours per week and more extensive and expensive training than bartending

Bartending is a “people profession”.  Your income as a professional mixologist will depend on where you are working and the quality of your service.  Your customers will expect a highly trained professional.  Every customer expects to be treated as if they are the most important person in the establishment…and to the bartender, they are!  The Tips will follow! A bartender with a steady clientele will always be in demand.  The Professional Bartending Institute of Greensboro will put you on the side of the bar making the money instead of spending it!

Some individuals attend our classes because they plan to start their own business.  We even have those that attend just for the fun of it with home entertaining as their main objective.  The options are endless.
